Messing About on the River with Paper Boats

In our part of the world you have to make your own adventures. We may not have lots of soft play places etc but we do have lots of nature. With a bit of imagination, we've found that's even better!

Last weekend we made some paper boats and then took them for a sail on a river. Using some googled instructions and waxed paper, we built our simple but hopefully sturdy little boats.

We followed one small, twisty road after another, deep into the heart of the island to here

It was just the perfect place for splashing about, shallow but with enough current to get our boats moving. There were lots of rocks so we had many shipwrecks and then lots of splashing through the water to refloat them.

Following the stream we reached a small waterfall tucked into a bend in the stream.

When we were ready to leave we set a boat into the water and raced it back down the river.

The river we chose is close to the cake fridge. This is a fridge out in the open, fully stocked with cakes and an honesty box for payment.

Our part of the world is really not so bad!
